City of Meridian repeals water boil notice

The city says the notice has been rescinded as of Aug. 1.

MERIDIAN, Texas — UPDATE: The City of Meridian announced that the boil water has been rescinded as of Aug. 1. All labs reportedly came back with the approval of the TCEQ, said the City.

Previous story follows

The City of Meridian is urging all residents to boil their water before use and/or consumption until further notice.

Corrective actions have already been taken, such as flushing the water lines and increasing the chlorine residual, according to the city.

This water boil notice comes after the discovery of low disinfection residuals.

People with weaker immune systems--such as children, those who are immunocompromised, and elderly--are more susceptible to the harmful bacteria that comes along with not complying to this rule.

Water should be boiled for two minutes minimum.

The city is urging its residents to share this information with everyone.

We will provide updates to this situation as they're made available.
