The prestigious ranking recognizes top-performing schools based on student proficiency in math and reading, as measured by state assessment tests.

TEMPLE, Texas — Bonham Middle School in Temple has earned a spot on U.S. News & World Report's 2025 Best Middle Schools list for Texas.

The prestigious ranking recognizes top-performing schools based on student proficiency in math and reading, as measured by state assessment tests. Schools must rank in the top 40% statewide to make the list.

Temple Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Bobby Ott praised the recognition as evidence of the district's rising profile.

"Temple ISD is truly becoming one of the top choices for Central Texas education," Ott said. "We will continue charging forward."

“Being recognized as one of the U.S. News Best Middle Schools is an extraordinary honor, and it is a testament to the dedication, passion, and tireless work of our students, staff, and the entire school community," Bonham Middle School principal Michael Hobbs said. "This achievement reflects the hard work, perseverance, and commitment to excellence that each individual brings to our school."

U.S. News evaluated over 23,000 public middle schools nationwide using data from the U.S. Department of Education. The rankings consider both overall performance and results for socioeconomically disadvantaged students.
