TEMPLE, Texas — If you're not a fan of creepy crawlers, you're in for some bad luck. During the upcoming fall season, crickets will start to become more noticeable in Central Texas, causing disturbance for many people.
According to Keld Ewart, the Chief Operating Officer at The Bug Master, this year's crickets will be more prevalent than in previous years due to the wet summer.
"With crickets, the change in the temperature and moisture creates the activity. They're always going to lay eggs that will hatch in the fall. Maybe even a bit early this year because of the weather. It's been cooler and a lot of moisture," Keld continues. "With the change in the temperature that triggers all their eggs to hatch. So you start to get a whole bunch of cricket activity. I think this year will be worse than most years."
To prevent black crickets from invading your space, Keld offers some helpful tips:
1. Use dim lightbulbs for your outdoor fixtures.
2. Regularly maintain your yard.
3. Seal all parts of your home.
Additionally, it's advisable to enlist the help of a trained professional to spray your home before crickets become a problem. This proactive approach can help you stay ahead of any potential cricket swarm.
