WACO, Texas — The Waco Pride Network hosted its annual Out on the Brazos festival, a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community and its allies.
This year’s event, held in recognition of National Coming Out Day on Oct. 11, drew a large crowd eager to embrace diversity and inclusivity.
The festival featured a mix of local food trucks, arts and crafts, and performances by local musicians, creating an atmosphere for attendees of all ages. Highlights included a Drag Story Time and a Pride Dog Parade, where furry friends showed off.
Since beginning as a community picnic in 2017, Out on the Brazos has become a significant event, showcasing over 100 vendors this year.
"It's so important to have a space, especially a big happy open space. Members of the LGBT Q plus community and family, friends, supporters, and allies can all gather," Alexandra Brock, Community Outreach Coordinator for the Waco Pride Network said. "Remember, it is a wonderful place to live and be, and we have a happy, healthy, thriving community here that is worth celebrating loudly and proudly."
The event not only celebrated pride within the LGBTQ+ community but also encouraged allies to join in the celebration of love and acceptance.
