TEMPLE, Texas — The Mexican food chain restaurant, Casa Olé announced it's moving locations after decades at the Temple mall.
In a Facebook post, the restaurant said, "We will miss serving our delicious Mexican food at the Temple Mall but we're excited to continue to serve you!"
The new location will be at 1712 SW HK Dodgen Loop, in the vacant Monterrey's Little Mexico building. Workers were already on site a day after the announcement renovating the property.
Customers replied to the announcement on Facebook with excitement about the new location and reminiscing that the move marks an end of an era at the Temple Mall for Casa Olé.
A date for the new location opening has not yet been announced but Casa Olé asks it's customers to, "Stay tuned for a reopening date."
This move comes following the mall's temporary closing, which had more than fifty businesses concerned about the future of their businesses and the mall itself.
After over a week of closure, the City of Temple announced that the Temple Mall was cleared to reopen Saturday, Oct. 5.
On Sunday Oct. 6, dozens of people visited the mall and were grateful for it being open once again.
"For small towns like this small town, economies tend to die as soon as big businesses start to leave," Mall goer Daniel Putnam explained. "The mall is a good place for them to congregate."
On a list provided to 6 News on the reopening status of individual mall businesses, Casa Olé was listed as TBD at the time.
