MARLIN, Texas — The Marlin Police Department said a man it arrested Monday in connection to a burglary tried to escape police custody because he "had illegal narcotics hidden in his genital area."

According to a press release, Falls County Sheriff's Office deputies detained Justin Isbell, 29, at the Plantation Apartments, then Marlin police came to help investigate. During the investigation, police and deputies found five stolen items: a 60-inch, a 50-inch and 40-inch TV, a Daisy BB Gun and a .22 rifle.

Isbell gave consent for his car to be searched, and police found a checkbook with blank checks from an elderly in the driver side door console, the release said. He was detained and taken back to the Marlin Police Department for questioning.

During an interview at the department, Isbell admitted to being involved in the burglary. Police filed arrest warrants for burglary of a building and fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, the release said.

Once police got the warrants and started to put handcuffs on Isbell, he fought off the officer and escaped. He only ran a short distance before police caught him. Finally, police discovered he tried to run away because he had illegal narcotics hidden in his genital area, the release said.

Isbell was booked into the Falls County Jail on five felony charges: burglary of a building, fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, escape, possession of controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.

Another man, 46-year-old Timothy Polk, was arrested on a warrant for burglary at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday. Police found Polk at the Plantation Apartments too, the release said.
