FORT CAVAZOS, Texas — The Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area, or BLORA, will be closed until further notice, due to severe weather that struck Central Texas Wednesday, according to Fort Cavazos officials.
"High water levels and significant damage, including downed trees, structural impairment, and playground hazards, has rendered the park unsafe for recreational use," officials said in a news release. "Fort Cavazos is committed to ensuring the well-being of all visitors, and this decision reflects our dedication to maintaining a safe and secure environment."
Several range roads are also being monitored. More particularly, West and East Range Roads, as well as AAA Road may experience closures, lane closures or traffic diversions because of flooding and debris from the storm.
"Remember, if encountering flooded roadways, "Turn Around, Don't Drown" remains a critical safety protocol," officials said. "Additionally, please exercise extreme caution around downed power lines and avoid contact with sparking wires."
Updates on BLORA, as well as the status of road conditions, will be updated on the Fort Cavazos Facebook Page.
