BELTON, Texas — The Belton Education Foundation hosted a pickleball fundraising tournament at Commonwealth Texas this past weekend. The event raised funds for teacher grants and scholarships for Belton ISD students and raised over $11,000.
The Belton Education Foundation decided to embrace the growing popularity of pickleball this year. Board member Allyn Testroet, a passionate pickleball player, expressed her excitement about the event.
"We usually do tennis, but this year we're doing pickleball. It's something different and very popular for all ages," she said.
The 48 available spots for the tournament were all filled, showcasing the sport's inclusive nature. Spectators cheered on friends and family members as they played matches throughout the day.
The funds raised will benefit Belton ISD teachers and students, providing them with vital resources and opportunities. With the success of this event, the Belton Education Foundation is already looking ahead to future fundraisers and is eager to continue supporting the local schools.
