BELTON, Texas — Nights at the Belton Senior Activity Center are about to be upgraded.
The Belton City Council approved $100,000 worth of renovations at Belton's Senior Activity Center on Nov. 12. Funding for this project, collected via interest earnings on the city's American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, will be used to add up to 1,000 square feet to the facility, expand storage and improve accessibility throughout the center.
Belton City Council's latest approval follows the city's ongoing trend to enhance the quality of life in Central Texas.
The city council previously approved a $391,653 initiative, funded through ARPA earnings, to build a temporary bridge of Nolan Creek, enhance the multipurpose field at Heritage Park and grow the game of pickleball at Chisholm Trail Park.
In 2021, the City of Belton received $5.68 million in federal ARPA funds to support local pandemic recovery efforts, including utility assistance and local business support.
Interest earned on ARPA funds is not restricted by the original ARPA guidelines, thereby allowing continued investment in local projects.
