Strong winds blow over, damage 5,000 pound display helicopter at Fort Cavazos

According to Fort Cavazos officials, the helicopter weighs 5,000 pounds and will be returned to its display location on Cooper Field once it is repaired.

FORT CAVAZOS, Texas — A display helicopter near the 1st Cavalry Division Headquarters at Fort Cavazos was blown over Sunday due to high winds from storms that swept through the area.

According to Fort Cavazos officials, the display helicopter being toppled over caused the rotor to be damaged and require repairs. The 1st Cavalry Division and garrison have already made plans to move it to another location to receive repairs.

Once the helicopter is repaired, it will be returned to its display location on Cooper Field.

According to Fort Cavazos, the helicopter weighs 5,000 pounds.
