KILLEEN, Texas — A 30-year-old woman is dead after an early morning accident in Killeen, according to police.
Around 5:50 a.m. Killeen Police officers received a call of an accident in the 12300 block of State Highway 195. When they arrived, they found a black Nissan sedan had collided with a semi-truck with a trailer.
An investigation into the events that took place before the crash revealed that the semi-truck was preparing to turn left on State Highway 195 from the yield sign at the intersection between the northbound and southbound lanes when the Nissan hit the back-left of the trailer while driving northbound in the inside lane. The semi-truck was not moving prior to the turn, police say.
The driver of the Nissan, Karelys Almeda Sola, 30, died from her injuries after being taken to the hospital for life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead at 6:49 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson. The semi-truck driver was not injured, according to Killeen PD.
Next of kin has been notified, according to police.
