KILLEEN, Texas — With severe weather occupying multiple Central Texas counties, the decision has been made to cancel the annual Killeen Multicultural Festival that was set to take place on Friday and Saturday.
"It’s a tough call, but the safety of our residents and staff will always be our number one priority," the city said in a post on Facebook.
The festival has been a free, two-day event that has become one of the city’s largest family-friendly celebrations. With that event officially cancelled, the next event that residents can look to put on their calendars is the Red, White and Blue Music Festival on July 6.
Throughout the afternoon, many cities have been under a tornado warning, with at least two having been confirmed in Tours, located just outside of the city of West in McLennan County, and another confirmed in Hill County.

Tornado Watch vs. Warning
What's the difference between a Tornado Watch and a Tornado Warning? According to the National Weather Service:
- Tornado Watch: Tornadoes are possible in or near the area, so it's best to be prepared and make sure your weather emergency plan is in place.
- Tornado Warning: A tornado was spotted or indicated by weather radar. There is imminent danger to life and property, so make sure to shelter in place in an interior room with no windows on the lowest floor.
