Bell County lifts burn ban

Bell County residents are still required to report burns through the Burn Ban phone line at 254-933-5555.

BELL COUNTY, Texas — The burn ban in Bell County has been lifted, the County announced on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

According to the County, Judge David Blackburn issued an order lifting the burn ban effective immediately, citing the "beneficial rainfall" many areas of Bell County have seen over the past few days.

The original emergency order prohibiting outdoor burning was issued on Friday, Aug. 16, the County said, and was later extended to Oct. 7 by the Bell County Commissioner's Court.

According to Bell County, the order lifting the burn ban states the conditions that led to it being issued "no longer exist in such a manner that creates a public safety hazard.”

The full order can be seen at this link.

Even though the burn ban is lifted, Bell County says residents still have to report burns through the Burn Ban phone line at 254-933-5555. Reporting to the line informs callers about Texas laws and makes sure fire personnel are not dispatched to controlled burns, said the County.
