BELTON, Texas — Two Central Texas banks were robbed Monday in less than an hour, and police have descriptions of possible suspects.
The Belton Police Department responded to a call about a bank robbery at BBVA Compass on Central Avenue around 3:20 p.m. Monday, Belton spokesperson Paul Romer said.
A woman handed a note to the teller that said she had a weapon, police said. However, the woman didn't display the weapon and no injuries were reported, Romer said. Police also don't know how much money she left with.
When she left, she was heading east, Romer said.
About 40 minutes after the first incident, the Round Rock Police Department said it responded to a bank robbery around 4 p.m. at the Wells Fargo at 271 University Oaks Blvd.
A quick search on Google Maps shows it's about a 36 minute drive from the BBVA Compass Bank in Belton to the second bank.
In a press release from Round Rock police, the woman is described as: a Hispanic female in her 40s or 50s, between 5 feet to 5 feet and 3 inches tall, and weighs 160 pounds.
A Round Rock Police Department spokesperson said the similarities in both surveillance pictures have been brought to its attention, but neither department can confirm whether they have the same suspect.
According to the Round Rock Police Department, a woman was wearing sunglasses and a black hoodie, whereas a woman was wearing a dark top and shorts at the bank in Belton.
