KILLEEN, Texas — Killeen Independent School District Police are investigating an anonymous threat made on Instagram against Manor Middle School, the ISD said in a press release.
When school officials saw the violent threat, they notified Killeen ISD Police immediately, the release said.
The ISD said it increased police presence at the school and is doing everything it can to maintain a safe learning environment.
Manor Middle School principal Rhea Bell called parents to tell them about the threat, the release said.
Bell said her students do a good job of reporting what they see and hear.
“We are proud of our students who saw this social media threat and immediately told school officials about it, which allowed us to immediately contact police," Bell said. "We encourage all our students to always report anything they see or hear that could threaten the security of the school."
The school stayed safe and secure on Friday, the release said.
