KILLEEN, Texas — The 6-year-old Killeen boy who was in critical condition after nearly drowning on Memorial Day died at 2:47 a.m. Friday, according to the Killeen Police Department.
Police were called around 8:40 p.m. Monday to the Bridgewater Apartments at 600 W. Hallmark Ave.
Officers found the boy, who has not been identified, near the pool slipping in and out of consciousness, police said. Officers performed CPR on the child for a while before he was taken to Mclane Children's Hospital. He was listed in critical condition.
Residents who were at the pool and witnessed the boy nearly drown claimed someone close to the boy was arrested. Police have not yet confirmed any arrests and said they are investigating the case.
