Lisa Hutson is the 4:30 am anchor for Early Texas Today and keeps viewers up to date on ‘What’s Trending’ on the web with Jane and Kris every weekday morning from 5-7.

She started her career in journalism at the young age of 16 at her hometown community television station. She spent four years learning the basics of reporting at her high school television station KLTV focusing on the struggles of her peers facing eating disorders, teen pregnancy and life in foster care.

Lisa is no stranger to the Lone Star State. She attended college at Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas where she majored in Marriage and Family Therapy. She returned to her passion for telling stories in her home state of Arkansas at KTHV in Little Rock in 2010. For 3 years, she covered wildfires, tornados and the everyday struggles of everyday people. While in Little Rock, Lisa shined a light on the issues local veterans face returning from multiple tours overseas in her series “Life After War”.

Lisa comes most recently from Cincinnati, Ohio where she spent 2 years as a reporter/photographer covering national stories like the arrest of alleged homegrown terrorist Christopher Cornell and the murder indictment of a University of Cincinnati Police Officer for the shooting death of an unarmed driver. She is most proud of her documentary series following a young family’s journey out of homelessness which garnered thousands of dollars in donations to local homeless shelters.

When she is not telling stories all over the Heart of Texas, you can find Lisa with a tall glass of tea and a book in her hand with her husband Wayne and dog, Abita by her side.

If you happen to see Lisa around town, please say hello! Send your story ideas to lhutson@kcentv.com
