Killeen officer indicted for injury to a child

Sarah Hydorn, who has been with the Killeen Police Department for six years, was placed on administrative leave without pay due to the indictment.

KILLEEN, Texas — An officer with the Killeen Police Department was indicted Wednesday for an injury to a child charge, according to a press release from the department.

The release said Sarah Hydorn, who has been a Killeen police officer for six years, turned herself in Thursday morning. She was placed on administrative leave without pay due to the indictment.

The allegations against Hydorn were reported to the Harker Heights Police Department.

Arrest records said Hydorn "intentionally and knowingly" caused injury to a child 14 years or younger by "grabbing, pulling, scratching and striking him on or about the head, face and body."

The department will be investigating the case, according to KPD chief Charles Kimble.

"This temporary leave is not intended to reflect an opinion on the merits of the case," Kimble said. "It is in accordance with Civil Service Law. The department will conduct a thorough investigation into this matter."

Hydorn's bond was set at $25,000.
