KILLEEN, Texas — Turning heads and transforming wardrobes!
A Killeen fashion designer is making a name for herself with her elaborate prom dresses, and stunning designs for popular online retailer Shein.
Brittany “Bee” Gaines is a talented fashion designer who has taken the industry by storm.
“I learned how to sew at Killeen High School,” said Gaines. “We learned how to make pajama pants. She wanted us to go to Walmart and pick different types of fabrics to make, so I got these pink fluffy long horn blankets and we used that to create our pants.”
With her unique style, the former nurse caught the eye of Shein. Landing a dream collaboration to design pieces for the popular online brand.
“I have four pieces in total. The collection was originally supposed to be for festivals like Coachella and Essence festival. It is very bright and vibrant. I wanted it be affordable and accessible to anybody,” said Gaines.
Her collection is available now on Shein’s website. It is called Pollen by Bee. The clothes come in different sizes and has very stretchy material to fit different body types.
“I sketched out all the designs and I put it into computer software,” said Gaines. In China, they put it on a fabric and cut it out.
Another passion lies in creating stunning prom dresses for teenagers, turning their special night into a magical experience.
“I have 35 dresses in total,” said Gaines. “So far, I’ve done 20. They range from corsets to spandex. They have rhinestones, sequence.
Her designs are a blend of elegance and flair, capturing the essence of everyone who wears them. Gaines said she did not want girls in Central Texas to have to drive to big cities to find the perfect gown.
“I wanted to bring that to our city. I know a lot of girls see those dresses on Instagram. They go all the way to Dallas, to Houston, but being right here, I feel like we are in the heart of Texas and it’s a great location,” said Gaines.
With a studio that is always buzzing with excitement. Gains continues to bring her creations to life. Making dreams come true one stitch at a time.
“You spend so much time with the fabric and you spend so much time creating it. So, to see somebody wearing it is just so exhilarating. It gives you a reason to do it again,” said Gaines.
