Do you recognize this man? Waco Cold Case detectives need help identifying 2008 John Doe

Medical examiners determined that the body belonged to a white male around the age of 50 plus or minus 10 years and that he was around 5'5'' plus or minus 2 inches.

WACO, Texas — The Waco Police Department's Special Crimes Cold Case Unit is asking for the public's help in identifying a John Doe whose body was found back in 2008.

Police say on Feb. 8, 2008, officers were called out to the 1600 block of Cherry Street after the body was discovered. Police say the person who made the discovery was inspecting property on a vacant field when they found the decomposed body.

An autopsy report was done and medical examiners determined that the body belonged to a white male around the age of 50 "plus or minus 10 years," and that he was around 5'5'' "plus or minus two inches tall," Waco PD said.

"Waco PD Cold Case Detectives believe the deceased to have been homeless and living in a tent and could have died within a year of locating the remains," police said in a news release Wednesday.

Police do not believe foul play was involved.

Detectives did obtain a DNA profile from the body, but didn't get any matches in their systems.
