WACO, Texas — A day after our 6 Fix story aired on Monday, Dec. 11, regarding a solar panel installation hiccup for Waco resident Jerry Crabtree, the City of Waco stepped in and issued the proper permits for Fastrac Solar to continue its installation on Crabtree's home.
Permits were first initiated on Oct. 12, 2023. Until Tuesday, Dec. 12, those permits were not approved and needed to be reviewed four times; Three items it did not comply with the National Electrical Code.
In the initial 6 Fix report, Crabtree expressed his worry about the status of his project and how he could get the solar panels put on his home. He explained that, at the time, the company he hired, Fastrac, pulled the wrong permits to install the solar panels on his home after they started the installation. A representative with the solar company can confirm they made this mistake.
"I'm not happy that we missed this and made a mistake and we do want to make this right," President of Fastrac Jordan Fruge said on Monday.
Fruge added that his company was and continues adhering to the contract every party signed.
Fastrac told 6 News at the time that it put in at least five requests to the City of Waco to get the correct permits for the project.
6 News also reached out to the city at the time and didn't hear back.
However, on Tuesday, the City of Waco gave the company the approval to begin the installation and inspection process. Fastrac said it will be able to continue installing the solar panels on Crabtree's home as planned.
