MOODY, Texas — 6 Fix update: A family in Moody will finally have electricity after waiting for months.
The family, who will remain anonymous, lost their home to a tornado in September. After living in cars and hotels for months they finally found a new home but there was one problem: they need electricity.
They reached out The Heart of Texas Electricity Co-op, as that's the company that installs power to homes in the area.
Here is the timeline the company said was established to get the pole and wires put in:
We always work diligently to care for our members, but numerous steps must be completed before the construction commences, as you can see below.
We also have other members in the queue for construction, and we work on a first-come, first-served basis. HOTEC does not charge fees or offer in any way for members to pay additional costs to expedite the construction of their job.
11/1- Existing member completed a new construction application.
11/2- Staking Technician staked the job. There was not a mobile home at the location, or pad at this time. (The mobile home was not delivered until 11/18.)
11/3- Staking Technician sent the invoices for both the construction and meter loop.
11/15- Member paid construction and meter loop invoice. The member provided two right-of-way easements.
11/20 – Underground locates were completed.
11/20 – The job was released to the construction crew and added to the job queue.
- Based on my discussion with our operation’s team this job should be constructed by Thursday of this week given its’ placement in the job queue. We always quote up to thirty business days to consider delays due to weather conditions, or other issues that may arise.
The job was completed within an hour for the family on Tuesday. They are waiting for the contractor to come and install the wiring to the home.
