KILLEEN, Texas — Tesla employees are tired of break-in after break-in happening in the lot they have to park in, in order to be shuttled to work an hour away.
A concerned employee who will remain anonymous reached out to KCEN a month ago concerned about their car being broken into.
Ever since that break-in on October 13 the employee said they had another one happen earlier this month.
"Yeah it's the second time they broke into my car as well as many others," the anonymous employee told Six News.
The Killeen Police Department is aware of this ongoing situation.
They're suggestion to Tesla employees who park in the lot is to contact their employer.
Statement from the Killeen Police Department on October 27:
"I did locate a calls for service to 602 W Elms on October 13th. Our officers did respond to the call and met with the reporting person. The officer did file a Criminal Mischief report for the reporting person.
We understand their concern, we suggest to these employees that park their vehicles there to reach out to their employer and express their safety concerns about the parking lot. There is no adequate lighting in that parking lot and maybe they need to look into hiring security to monitor the parking lot over in the night hours."
As for Tesla, they have yet to respond to 6 News regarding the safety of their employees and the multiple break-ins.
The anonymous employee said he did hear back from a representative at Tesla.
Tesla representative response:
"The only thing Tesla can do is have KPD patrol the lot and have KPD patrol the parking lot. No security cameras will be installed because Tesla does not own the parking lot."
Ever since 6 News aired the story about the first break-ins, more lighting has been put in the lot by the owner.
Before that there was little to no lighting.
For now the employees and concerned neighbors want the break-ins to stop but they have no idea how it will happen.
6 News will be in touch with Tesla, the lot owners and KPD to help them get answers.
