MOODY, Texas — Moody resident Donna Polston has waited close to a year to get a shed built in her backyard. Now, she just wants the $10k she paid for it back.
In February of 2023, Polston reached out to A&L Sheds in Houston to have them build a shed on her property in Moody, Texas. It was understood at the time that the company would start the build in April of 2023.
Months have gone by, and the shed has not been built. Donna is still out $10,376, but the owner of A&L Sheds, Amanda Sparks, said they are working on mailing the money back to her Friday or Saturday of this week.
Sparks spoke with 6 News, apologizing for the delay on Polston's build and others. Sparks added that because of an injury her husband has been dealing with they've had to push many projects back.
"We were always working on the ones ahead of Donna prior to her cancelling," Sparks said.
Sparks said it was always their goal to get the shed built but they did not understand how much her husbands' injury would negatively impact their builds.
Sparks did take on other projects while Polston's was on hold.
Polston and Sparks have been communicating back and forth, dating back to February of 2023. As of November, Polston asked for the build to be cancelled.
"I just want to think of them in my rearview mirror," Polston said.
Since then, Polston has received no money. Correspondence between Polston and the company shows that dates have been promised for the money to be returned, but so far it has not been.
As of now, Sparks has told 6 News she will return the 10k to Polston either Jan. 26 or Jan. 27.
