WASHINGTON, D.C., USA — The Department of the Army has announced today that III Corps Headquarters at Fort Hood will deploy to Iraq in the fall of 2019.
The deployment to the region is a scheduled rotation and III Corps will replace the XVIII Airborne Corps Headquarters during the on-going Combined Joint Task-Force Operation Inherent Resolve.
In a prepared statement, III Corps CSM Daniel Hendrex, III said:
"The III Corps has a distinguished history of combat success, and our Soldiers have trained several months for this important mission. Our headquarters is ready, again, to lead operations against Daesh (ISIS) with our coalition nations and partner organizations to create enduring security in the region."
According to Fort Hood, several hundred Soldiers from III Corps are expected to deploy and are expected to be in Iraq for one year. This is the third time III Corps will deploy to the region to lead the CJTF-OIR mission.
