AdventHealth Central Texas hosting free community flu shot clinic in October

Health professionals will be on-site to administer vaccines on a first-come, first-served basis.

KILLEEN, Texas — AdventHealth Central Texas will be offering free flu vaccinations to Central Texans on Wednesday, Oct. 25.

From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., the hospital will hold a free, drive-thru community flu shot clinic near the hospital's Emergency Department Entrance, located at 2201 S. Clear Creek Rd. in Killeen.

AdventHealth says no appointment will be necessary, and health professionals will administer vaccines on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

Anyone age six months or older will be able to get vaccinated at the event, and AdventHealth especially encourages those who may be at high risk for flu complications to get the vaccine, such as those over the age of 65, children under 5, pregnant women and those with certain health conditions.

In addition to getting vaccinated, AdventHealth also encourages Central Texans to take three simple precautions to protect themselves and others from the flu:

  1. Washing hands often with soap and water for at least 30 seconds.
  2. Covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or sleeve.
  3. Staying home when sick and talking to a health care provider early if symptoms begin.

For those who are unable to attend the clinic on Oct. 25, another clinic will be held at AdventHealth Rollins Brook in Lampasas, Texas on Nov. 1 from 4 to 6 p.m.
