Soldiers are returning home after a nine-month deployment overseas.

FORT HOOD, Texas — Fort Hood is getting ready to welcome home more than 100 soldiers Friday following a nine-month deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

While in Iraq, Company F, 1st Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment performed a variety of tasks, including security and target acquisition. They also helped the mission by flying nearly 14,000 combat flight hours in support of coalition forces.

They are expected to arrive home at 4 p.m. on Friday.

Military Mentors Needed

Fort Hood's Survivor Outreach Services is looking for 100 active duty and Veteran Services Members to mentor children of America's fallen military heroes.

From March 15 to 17, the Southern Regional Military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp will take place for children between 4 and 18 years old who lost a loved one in the military.

A mentor's role is to help foster lasting friendships, teach coping skills and build resiliency. Fallen service members will also be honored.
