TEMPLE, Texas — Tony Hennes, former KCEN weatherman, anchor and news director, has passed away from an apparent heart attack, according to a Facebook post shared by friend Andy Shaw on Monday.
Max Tooker, former BIG 95 KGBO morning co-host, wrote in a Facebook post that a best friend of Hennes found him unresponsive around noon Monday in his apartment.
Former colleagues of Hennes shared reactions to his passing on the KCEN-TV Alumni page.
"I’m sure I can come up with many more stories about this very colorful and lovable, one of a kind character. But right now I’m such a state of utter shock," Tooker wrote.
Hennes recently announced his candidacy for Temple City Council.
His visitation will be held Wednesday at Harper-Talasek chapel Temple from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Graveside service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Bellwood Cemetery on Airport Road.
