KILLEEN, Texas — High School seniors throughout Central Texas received over $100,000 in scholarships on Sunday.
The banquet happened Sunday at the Killeen Arts and Activity Center and was put on by the Killeen National Pan-Hellenic Council. One-by-one students walked with pride to receive their scholarship money.
There were plenty of proud family members and loved ones in the audience. The president of the Killeen NPHC said it was an honor to help the kids reach greater heights.
"We give money to youth, and we do it without any regard to race, or national origin,” said Cami McClain, President of Killeen National Pan-Hellenic Council. “It is about furthering our communities, ensuring that we are active participants in our communities, and giving back in a way that's meaningful. We hope these students take this opportunity go to college, get a degree, giveback and serve."
