Midway community approves Teacher Retention and Recruitment funding

The approval of the VATRE allows Midway ISD to maintain it's tax rate within the lowest third of the county.

MIDWAY, Texas — The Midway Independent School District celebrated the passage of the Voter Approval Tax Rate Election on Nov. 7.

The MISD Board of Trustees called on the community to address critical funding needs aimed at attracting and retaining high-quality educators. The response from the Midway community was quick, highlighting their collective dedication to nurturing educational growth.

"Great schools exist in great communities," said Superintendent Dr. Chris Allen, expressing his gratitude for the overwhelming support. "This positive vote will significantly impact the quality of education and opportunities available to our students. It also demonstrates how much our community values educators and the role they play in our future leaders, economy, workforce, and quality of life."

The approval of the VATRE allows Midway ISD to maintain its tax rate within the lowest third of the county, all while ensuring the continuous development of educational programs across all academic levels.

Despite acknowledging a $2 million budget work that still requires attention, the VATRE positions the district to address this challenge.

Dr. Allen emphasized, "Midway ISD remains committed to utilizing the acquired resources effectively and transparently, ensuring that each dollar contributes to the continuous advancement and success of its students."
