Darryl Henson named lone finalist for Marlin ISD superintendent

MARLIN, Texas — The Marlin Independent School District Board members voted to name Dr. Darryl. J. Henson as the lone finalist for Superintendent.

Henson is currently the assistant superintendent at Cedar Hill ISD. There is a required 21 day waiting period before a contract is offered and Henson can officially be named as superintendent.

In February, the Texas Education Agency sent a letter revoking Marlin ISD’s accreditation and let parents know the state no longer recognizes Marlin ISD as a public school district.

According to the TEA, Marlin ISD has been an "F" school district for quite some time.

They failed the state academic accountability ratings for eight years in a row, but this does not necessarily mean the school district is closing.

As of Thursday, the TEA said that there had been no decision made with regards to closing the district.
