Killeen ISD welcomes families to mental health awareness fair

The free event will feature activities where parents and students can learn about mental health and win door prizes.

KILLEEN, Texas — The Killeen Independent School District is inviting families to connect with counselors and learn more about their mental health with a community event.

The district will hold a Social Emotional Learning and Mental Health Awareness Fair on Tuesday, Feb, 28. 

The event is targeted at families and will feature events for all ages meant to "stimulate the mind and foster calmness". Activities include make-and-take activities for students, interactive sessions, parent workshops, door prizes and the opportunity to meet with representatives from local community agencies.

Topics for parent workshops include emotional awareness, strategies for anxiety and depression, social media awareness and safety, suicide awareness and many more. Students are also welcome to participate in sessions with their parents.

The fair will be held at the Killeen ISD Career Center located at 1320 Stagecoach Rd. from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
