KILLEEN, Texas — Timber Ridge Elementary Assistant Principal Ron Sursa has been named one of the three finalists for the Assistant Principal of the Year Award for the Association of Professional Educators in Texas.
“When it comes to being an AP, what I like most is the ability to be in the rooms with teachers and students, and to watch the magic of learning” Sursa said, while working from home earlier this week, adding his position at the school allows him to help lead teachers.
This isn't the first honor Sursa, he was named the campus teacher of the year for Iduma Elementary School when he taught there in 2015. He was also a finalist for the KISD Teacher of the Year Award that same year.
“We are extremely proud of Mr. Sursa and wish him the best as he moves forward as a finalist for the ATPE Educator of the Year Award,” said Timber Ridge Principal Tanya Dockery.
“As an assistant principal, he brings a lot of great community partnerships to our campus,” she said, pointing out the recent virtual field trip as well as spearheading a family literacy night. “He goes above and beyond every day and we are proud to call him a Ranger.”
