Hillsboro High School debuts advanced woodshop facility

The beginning of the new woodshop follows a devastating fire in September 2022 that demolished the previous facility.

HILLSBORO, Texas — Hillsboro High School has unveiled its cutting-edge woodshop, equipped with two industry-standard computer numerical control machines.

The beginning of the new woodshop follows a devastating fire in September 2022 that demolished the previous facility, destroying machines, projects, and part of a classroom.

Kyle Davis, the Woodshop Teacher at Hillsboro High School, reflected on the tragedy, stating, "The fire was heartbreaking. At the time, I didn’t know how to handle the loss. It was a rise from the ashes and an opportunity to start all over."

In the wake of the fire, the Career and Technical Education team toured local facilities and manufacturing plants to find the latest machines and tools necessary for the new facility.

Students enrolled in the Carpentry program at Hillsboro High School are eagerly embracing the opportunities provided by the state-of-the-art woodshop.

Alex Dominguez, a senior at Hillsboro High School, expressed his excitement, stating, "I was very excited to start working when I saw the new woodshop."
