Early voting turnout for $426 million KISD bond is highest in 10 years

Early voting runs through May 1.

Monday's early voting numbers were the highest first-day vote totals in a Killeen ISD election in a decade.

Voters are deciding on two separate propositions, which make up its total $426 million bond proposal. The $235 million Proposition A would build a new high school and elementary school, as well as make security and accessibility upgrades district-wide. The $191 million Proposition B would build new schools and renovate existing ones -- improving and consolidating buildings that are more than 50 years old.

The current election is the district's first school construction vote in 16 years.

Early voting runs through May 1. Election day is May 5.
