BELTON, Texas — The Board of Trustees of Belton Independent School District has unanimously approved the hiring of Dr. Malinda Golden as the new superintendent of schools.
Dr. Golden, who has been serving as acting superintendent since January 10, following the resignation of Dr. Matt Smith, was named the lone finalist for the position on Feb. 19.
Expressing gratitude for the appointment, Dr. Golden stated, "I am grateful to the Board of Trustees for this opportunity and for their trust in me. Belton ISD is an excellent district and full of incredible students, parents, and staff. I am excited to serve this community and see our vision take shape."
Dr. Golden brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having served as deputy superintendent for Belton ISD since 2020. During this time, she was responsible for overseeing strategic and tactical plans for the district.
With over 30 years of experience in education, Dr. Golden has held leadership positions in various Texas school districts, including assistant superintendent roles in Georgetown ISD and deputy superintendent positions in Leander ISD.
