BELTON, Texas — The Belton ISD Board of Trustees has approved a compensation plan that could increase pay for teachers and other employees in the district, BISD announced on June 17.
According to the district, the Board approved the 2024-25 compensation plan at their regular June meeting. The recommended plan reportedly includes a teacher increase ranging from $600 to $970 depending on years of experience.
Administrators, non-teaching professionals, paraprofessionals and auxiliary employees will reportedly see an increase of one percent.
BISD said all percentage increases are based on the midpoint of the employee's salary range.
“Our goal is for this to help with retention," said Todd Schiller, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. "We recognize that health insurance rates will likely increase, and we hope this will help offset some of that."
“With the budget squeeze we are feeling, this is the best we can do," Trustee Jeff Norwood said. "It’s not enough, but it is all we can do."
The Board also recognized student athletes, teams and graduates at the meeting, and heard reports on academic performance and recent storm damage to district facilities.
“Great things are happening in Belton ISD,” Vice President Chris Flor said.
