Belton ISD board names Golden as acting superintendent amidst leadership transition

Dr. Golden has served as Deputy Superintendent for four years.

BELTON, Texas — In a meeting held on Jan. 9, the Belton ISD Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Dr. Malinda Golden as the acting superintendent, effective Jan. 10. 

Dr. Golden has served as Deputy Superintendent for four years.

Board President Manuel Alcozer expressed confidence in Dr. Golden, stating, "she has been very involved in the tactical and strategic plans of the district. She has our complete confidence to continue the work."

With over 30 years of experience in education, Dr. Golden previously served in leadership roles at Georgetown ISD and Leander ISD. She holds degrees from Texas A&M University, Texas State University, and the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Golden expressed her commitment to Belton ISD, saying, "I am honored to support our incredible teachers, leaders, parents, community members, and students as we continue to pursue our shared vision of empowering each and every learner to pursue their dreams and enrich their communities."

The Board also accepted the resignation of Dr. Matt Smith, effective Jan. 19, as he takes on the role of superintendent at Arlington ISD.
