Belton ISD approves changes to grading amid COVID-19 pandemic

The Board of Trustees approved a resolution to pass/fail/incomplete guidelines

BELTON, Texas — During their scheduled monthly meeting, the Belton ISD Board of Trustees approved the changes to how students will have their final grades and GPA calculated amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

It's been agreed for the spring semester of the 2019-2020 school year that grades will be recorded as pass, fail or incomplete. All students will have their transcripts denoted as pass/fail by August 1st.

“We recognize that our students and families are facing a whole host of unique health and economic challenges, and we are operating from a supportive mindset in all areas across the district,” said Superintendent Dr. Matt Smith. “With regards to academics, we’re going to implement a pass/fail/incomplete policy for the last nine weeks. We feel this is the most supportive way to help our students continue their learning but also feel support from us.”

Furthermore, graduating seniors this year will have their final GPA based on end of the third 9-week grading period while underclassman for 2021, 2022 and 2023 classes will have their GPA calculated based on the end of Fall semester.
