MART, Texas — A woman is in custody for allegedly bringing an illegal drug to a child in custody at the McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility in Mart, according to the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).
According to the TJJD, inspectors general with the Office of Inspector General at the TJJD arrested 37-year-old Sabrina Martinez on Oct. 22 for delivery of a controlled substance to a child and possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility.
The first charge is reportedly a 2nd degree felony, punishable by up to a $10,000 fine and two to 20 years in prison, while the second charge is a 3rd degree felony punishable by a $10,000 fine and two to 10 years in prison, said the TJJD.
Martinez is the mother of a child in TJJD custody, according to the department, and is alleged to have concealed "illegal drug contraband" during visitation and provided it to the child.
The arrest reportedly comes after an investigation by the Office of Inspector General at the McLennan County State Juvenile Correctional Facility in July 2024.
Martinez was booked into the Bexar County Jail after her arrest, according to the TJJD. The case is reportedly being prosecuted by the Special Prosecution Unit.
