Two dead, one injured in Killeen shooting

The shooting marks the tenth murder of the year in Killeen, according to police.

KILLEEN, Texas — Editor's note: A former report stated one male victim was taken to the hospital where he later died. Police have since said the victim was found dead at his apartment.

Two are dead and one is injured after a shooting in Killeen late on Wednesday night, according to the Killeen Police Department.

Officers were sent to the 900 block of Adams Avenue at about 11:45 p.m. in reference to a shooting victim. Police said they found a 51-year-old man shot dead at an apartment.

Killeen Police Chief Pedro Lopez Jr said in a press conference there were "other potential witnesses and suspects in and around the apartment."

Later that night, two additional victims, a 35-year-old man and 30-year-old woman arrived to a hospital in Killeen suffering from gunshot wounds. The 35-year-old were taken to the same hospital as the first victim and later died. The woman is expected to be okay, according to police.

Lopez said police do not know the motive behind the shooting. Witnesses have reportedly given conflicting reports ranging from a domestic disturbance to a dispute over drugs.

The names of both the victims weren't released pending notification of next of kin. Police are urging anyone with information regarding this murder to contact KPD or the Bell County Crime Stoppers at 254-526-8477. This is the tenth murder in Killeen this year.
