Two people have been arrested and 865 grams of methamphetamine have been seized after a "directed enforcement operation" in McLennan County, according to the McLennan County Sheriff's Office (MCSO).
The Sheriff's Office stated the operation was conducted by the Organized Crime Unit along with the Waco Police Department Drug Enforcement and Street Crimes units on March 26.
According to the Sheriff's Office, investigators worked with agencies outside of the area to "develop information" on a suspect they believed to be bringing "large quantities" of methamphetamine into the Waco area.
MCSO said investigators, with the help of a McLennan County K9 deputy, stopped and identified a suspect and co-conspirator.
While searching the vehicle, investigators reportedly seized approximately 865 grams of methamphetamine packaged for distribution.
The occupants of the vehicle, identified as Scott Alan Formby of Anahuac, Texas and Amala Catalina Camargo of Waco, were arrested for Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 over 400 grams, a first-degree felony, said the Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office said a search warrant on a Waco residence was also conducted afterward and led to "the recovery of evidence related to the conspiracy to distribute the methamphetamine".
"The seized methamphetamine could have supplied a user-level dose to approximately 1500 users of the illegal drug, as a conservative estimate," said McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara in a release about the arrests. "Very proud of all the Law Enforcement Agencies working together to make this case."
