Traffic accident leads to aggravated assault in Temple, police say

Police said a victim told them she and her daughter were assaulted after approaching a car that allegedly hit them.

TEMPLE, Texas — One person is in custody after a traffic accident led to an aggravated assault in Temple on May 11, according to the Temple Police Department.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Westfield Boulevard and W. Adams Avenue around 11:30 a.m.

When officers arrived to the scene, a victim reportedly told them she and her daughter had walked up to a vehicle that had hit them to discuss the accident, and a woman had gotten out of the vehicle and began assaulting both of them.

When a bystander went to assist the victims, the woman reportedly ran back to her vehicle and struck the adult victim while fleeing the scene, police said.

Temple PD said both victims were taken for medical treatment and are in stable condition.

The suspect was located and taken into custody, said Temple PD.
