Truck-tractor hits Texas DPS Trooper car in Bell County, no injuries reported

No injuries were reported from the incident, but a 51-year-old man from Mexico was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated with an open container.

BELL COUNTY, Texas — A Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper car was hit by a drunk driver in Bell County early in the morning on Thursday, Aug. 1.

According to DPS, the incident occurred around 1:05 a.m. on IH-35 at the 295 mile marker. An officer was arresting an individual--who was not named--in a traffic stop and was in his patrol car when a truck-tractor towing a semi-trailer hit the left side of the vehicle.

No injuries were reported, and the damage to the DPS Trooper vehicle was noted as "minor." The Mercedes that was owned by suspect that was initially being arrested by the officer also received minor damage.

Isreal Resillas Olade, of Mexico, the driver of the truck-tractor, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated with an open container and for failing to slow down or move over. According to DPS, he is currently in custody in the Bell County Jail.
