Temple shooting ruled attempted murder-suicide, suspect identified

The Temple Police Department stated the shooting occurred during a domestic violence incident.

TEMPLE, Texas — A shooting in Temple on Sept. 16 has been ruled an attempted murder-suicide and the suspect is dead, the Temple Police Department reported on Sept. 17.

According to Temple PD, officers responded to a shooting on Curlew Lane around 2:09 p.m. on Sept. 16 where they found two people who had been shot.

Police stated they believe the shooting took place during a domestic violence incident between the two people, who were allegedly in a relationship and were "beginning the process of separating".

Both people were reportedly taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The suspect, identified by police as 32-year-old Angel Washington, later died at the hospital, police said.

The victim, who has not been named, is reportedly in stable condition and has been released from the hospital.
