KILLEEN, Texas — A student at Roy J. Smith Middle School was arrested Thursday for having a weapon on campus, according to Chad Wolf, principal of the school.
Killeen Independent School District Police and the campus administration team worked to quickly confiscate the weapon, Wolf said. He added there were no reported injuries and students and staff were safe.
The student was taken to a juvenile detention facility and will be charged through the Killeen ISD Police Department. They will face all appropriate legal and school disciplinary consequences, according to Wolf.
"We take any threat to school safety seriously," Wolf said.
The school administration is working closely with law enforcement to investigate any potential threat to the safety of students and staff.
