Stolen vehicle pursuit ends in crash

Following the collision, officers arrested the juvenile driver.

KILLEEN, Texas — In the early hours of Oct. 12, at around 2:21 a.m., a pursuit involving a stolen Kia ended with a crash into a building. 

The pursuit started when a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper attempted to stop the stolen Kia. The vehicle, was being driven by a 15-year-old male driver. He was traveling northbound on Interstate 35, in the vicinity of Riverside Drive, located in Austin.

According to the officers, instead of complying with the Trooper's attempt to stop, the Kia accelerated. The pursuit continued as the vehicle left Travis County, entering Bell County.

The chase reached a stop when the stolen Kia crashed into an O'Reilly Auto Parts store at  the updated address 1115 West Veterans Memorial Blvd in Killeen, according to Ofelia Miramontez with Killeen police.

The previous address mentioned earlier was incorrectly given.

Following the collision, officers arrested the juvenile driver. He was taken to a medical facility. After the assessment, he was transported to the juvenile facility in Bell County.

During the  pursuit, three Texas DPS patrol cars were struck by the stolen Kia vehicle. According to officers, no DPS personnel sustained injuries during the incident.
