WACO, Texas — Several Waco police units responded to Garden and 4th St. Tuesday afternoon after a dead body was found in the road.
A Baylor employee called police a little after 3 p.m. to report the body next to Oakwood Cemetery, police said.
According to Waco Independent School District, the victim was a student at McLennan County Challenge Academy.
"We are mourning the loss of a student to a senseless act of violence," WISD assistant superintendent Kyle Deeber said.
Debeer said WISD had counselors from Education Service Center Region 12 and My Health My Resources help WISD counselors support grieving students.
Detectives have started their investigation but do not have any suspects.
