TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple Police Department has put out a Scam Alert to community members as several people have claimed to have been called by scammers impersonating police officers and demanding money.
According to police, the scammers will call the victim and pretend to be a police officer, at times even using real officers' names, and claim that the victim or the victim's loved ones have outstanding warrants.
Police say these scammers are demanding money or cards from their unsuspecting victims, threatening arrest if they don't comply.
Temple PD says no one from its department will ever ask for money or items over the phone.
If you have been contacted by these scammers, please contact Temple PD at 254-298-5000.
