The Hill County Sheriff's Office has reported that a 31-year-old man from San Antonio has been arrested for trafficking narcotics through the area.
Sheriffs say that earlier in October, a Texas DPS trooper stopped a car on IH-35 in Hill County, and with the help of a Hill County Sheriff's Office and his K9, was able to confirm that there were drugs in the car.
When a search was later conducted, a Duralast battery that had been tampered with was found. Inside that battery, 12 duct taped packages were found, all containing either black tar heroin or fentanyl. In total, 4.76 pounds of black tar heroin and 5.09 pounds of fentanyl were discovered.
The man, whose name was not revealed, was taken into custody and charged with Manufacture or Delivery of Substance in Penalty Group 1 >= 400g, Manufacture or Delivery of Substance in Penalty Group 1-B >= 400g, and Unlawful carry of a weapon. He is being held in the Hill County Jail on a $1,502,500 bond.
